February 2020 New Moon

The New Moon in Pisces is at 4° Pisces and is conjunct Mercury retrograde, sextile Uranus in Taurus, and sextile Mars in Capricorn. Mars is the planet of action. Mars sextile the New Moon will push you may make some decisions that don’t seem logical but that will eventually set you free. This new moon is the first major one of Pisces season 2020, and both the sun and moon will be in this emotional water sign. Pisces energy is super dreamy, feelings-oriented, and creative, so we can expect to feel extra intuitive, romantic, and artistically-inspired under this transit. And thanks to some of the other planetary aspects hitting the moon, it’s also a great time to take advantage of cultivating our natural talents and interests, hanging out with friends, and embracing life’s spontaneity and synchronicity.

Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury. If Mercury is the ‘lower mind’ or how we humans make sense of the world, Uranus is the divine wisdom, the all-knowing consciousness. At the New Moon in Pisces, you can bypass your ‘human’ mind and get direct access to the AI of the universe. Let’s not forget though that the New Moon in Pisces is conjunct Mercury retrograde. This is not the most exciting transit in the world.

On one hand, you’ll want to start something new, because New Moons come with new beginnings, but then Mercury is Retrograde so not in its best shape, not to mention that Mercury is also in detriment in Pisces. You may feel confused and pulled in different directions.

Things are not what they seem – that’s why you want to take your time and do your research. Because we’re in the Pisces season, this ‘research’ doesn’t have to be conventional. Meditate. Look for signs. Ask your spirit guides.

This new moon rises in spiritual, emotional, and introspective Pisces. This makes it the perfect time to grant yourself the forgiveness you’ve been withholding. Pisces is about coming to a sense of completion and letting go of the past. There’s nothing you can do to change what happened. By continuing to blame yourself, you’ll never move on. Take a page out of the Pisces book and treat yourself with love and forgiveness instead.

With Mercury retrograde in Pisces taking you on a tour through the past, this new moon might have you exploring what’s come and gone rather than what awaits you — but that’s OK. A little reflection is just what you need before you decide where you’re headed next. However, don’t mistake this period of reflection for stagnation. This new moon still forms a sextile to energizing Mars and innovative Uranus, encouraging you to prepare yourself for something groundbreaking and huge.

Although every zodiac sign will learn something from this new moon, water signs will enjoy their lesson plan the most.

If you were wondering whether it’s time to start taking your goals even more seriously, then you’ve come to the right place, because February 2020 will be the best career month for these zodiac signs: Aries, Capricorn, and Pisces. Roll up those sleeves and prepare yourselves for something big, because the astrology of February will allow your talents to shine.

Even though the sun spends the majority of February in dreamy, spiritual, and selfless Pisces (taking the energy down a notch), February is jam-packed with potential for one major reason: Mars — planet of drive, courage, and self-assertion — enters Capricorn on Feb. 16. Mars becomes extremely powerful when it’s in Capricorn, mixing fiery passion with good old-fashioned hard work. Capricorn is focused, ambitious, and willing to put in the hours to get a desired result. Think like a boss this February, because Mars in Capricorn is coming.

This, combined with the sun in Pisces, will help you make your wildest dreams a reality. If you can envision it, then you can accomplish it. With the imagination of Pisces and the tenacity of Capricorn, the energy is beyond inspired. Get your creative juices flowing, tap into your destiny, and follow your intuition. Then, form a game plan. As long as you’re willing to work, the cosmos will help you every step of the way.

If your sun, ascendant, or Mars sign is in Aries, Capricorn, or Pisces, then you definitely don’t want to sleep through the month of February.

How The February 2020 New Moon Will Affect You, Based On Your Zodiac Sign

Between January’s ruthless Capricorn stellium followed by the kickoff of Mercury retrograde on Valentine’s Day weekend, it’s been a rough cosmic go so far this year. Thankfully, the February 2020 new moon, which rises on Sunday, Feb. 23, serves as the perfect reprieve from the recent astrological chaos. This super positive-vibes-filled new moon weekend is offering us a beautiful burst of inspiration and confidence that can set all zodiac signs off on an exciting new path or project.

“February’s new moon is one of the most positive one of 2020,”. “With all the natal planets making their most positive side available to us, the days surrounding this new moon can function as the first step toward the realization of a dream.” In other words, if you’ve been waiting for a good time to kick off a project or get through a rough patch on the road to a current goal, this moon marks an ideal opportunity to do.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Expect the unexpected, Aries, because this moon could rock your world. “You might be in for a surprise. And even if it doesn’t seem like it at first, it will most likely be a good one. “Keep an open mind — and most importantly, an open heart.” This is exactly the kind of cosmic shake-up you’ve needed to get you out of your Mercury retrograde rut.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Allow yourself to be fully inspired under this moon, Taurus — because it’s bringing some potential networking opportunities. “During this new moon, making contact with a group or person you admire could bring meaningful rewards your way,”. “Networking is highlighted for you — because if you don’t put yourself out there, who will?”

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Your creative vision is clear right now, Gemini, and it’s time to share it with the world. “This new moon brings you a sweet opportunity to make a bold move in the direction of your dreams. “This would be an amazing time to put that meeting on the books and share that vision or idea with your business partners or higher-ups.”

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

This isn’t the new moon to stay home and cuddle with the cats, Cancer — it’s time to put yourself out there and experience what life currently has to offer you. “You might feel like going out to explore new places and new scenes as you get inspired by this new moon’s greatness and sense of adventure. “[It] could put exciting and creative personalities along your path.” Be open to life’s magical synchronicities.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

This new moon is blessing you with an almost psychic sense of what you currently need to heal and spiritually grow, Leo. Listen to your higher self. “You can expect intimacy issues and needs to be brought to your awareness now,” “During these days, doing some deep soul-searching will be not only fascinating, but extremely revelatory.”

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

Partnerships are weighing heavily on your mind right now, Virgo, and this luminary is the perfect time to send some extra energy toward those areas in order to develop those relationships the way you want to. “This new moon will bring the desire of a new beginning within a partnership. “Whether it’s business or romantic, you can lay the groundwork for an emotionally gratifying road ahead.”

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

Time to revamp your routine, Libra. “You might have to ask yourself if your current routine is working: Are you eating and sleeping enough, or do you need to make adjustments. “Regardless of the answer, there is no better time than this new moon for a fresh start.” This moon is your chance to start a new and healthy kick with confidence and strength.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

You’re feeling fun, sexy, free, and ultra-creative, so let your magic shine, Scorpio. “Expect a weekend full of artistic inspiration, as well as the kind of sexual connection that helps release pent-up energy. “Pisces is one of your [fellow water] signs, so just relax and have fun!” Allow the fun and creative burst of inspiration flow.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

“Spend this weekend reconnecting with your roots. “Lovely, decadent Venus squares off with your ruler Jupiter, bringing awareness to your needs and deepest desires — tuning you into them for some interesting revelations.” Keep things laid back this weekend, Sag, and you’ll be repaid in some major intuitive clarity when it comes to personal matters.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

This moon serves as a reminder to put work on the back burner once in a while and prioritize some healing you time, Cap. “If you are on the brink of burning out, this new moon might bring a reality check your way — as money-hungry Venus challenges Jupiter, the planet of abundance, in your sign. “The days surrounding this new moon are better spent learning something new that is not work-related — instead, make it about you!”

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

This is an amazing opportunity for manifesting and setting personal intentions, so do a new moon ritual and focus on your dreams. “With so much positive planetary energy activating your second house of money and possessions, visualizing what you want might really manifest it for you. “Also, show and feel appreciation for what you already have — it will bring even more abundance your way.”

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

“This is your new moon — meaning it’s that time of the year to reinvent yourself,” “With Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and even Uranus supporting this gorgeous lunar energy manifesting in your watery, psychic sign, it would be silly not to. Rally all your troops and go for the gold!” The planets are cooperating, so make the magic happen.

Your Guide to the First Mercury Retrograde of 2020

Look out — you may accidentally sexted the wrong person or delete an important email from your boss.

Mercury retrograde is more infamous for its ability to screw things up than your most problematic ex. And speaking of, get ready to play whack-a-mole with past partners during the first Mercury retrograde of 2020, which starts in early February. During this time, they have a tendency to reappear (though in some cases, you’re the ex creeping back around), travel gets delayed, and communication goes haywire. Mercury is the messenger of the gods, which is why when it goes retrograde you may accidentally sexted the wrong person or delete an important email from your boss. Travel can also get a little funky, and delays are more likely to occur. You may find yourself taking an unexpected detour on a road trip, for example.

While fear of Mercury retrograde is rampant, there is no cause for alarm. It’s different each time, and with a little knowledge, you can even use it to your advantage by correcting past mistakes and steering life back on course.

What is special about this Mercury retrograde?

Before and after the official Mercury retrograde period, there is a two week “shadow period” that bookends the experience. During this period, not only can you can mildly feel the effects of the retrograde, but it’s also a time to prepare and reflect on the time (depending on whether the shadow is before or after). Start double-checking your calendar. If possible, sign any important documents and close any deals that were slated to close during retrograde ahead of time. The front-end shadow period of this Mercury retrograde begins on Sunday, February 2, in innovator Aquarius. Mercury is very happy in air sign Aquarius, which is represented by the water bearer and has a direct and logical communication style. This sign is often accused of being cold, though it’s also quite community-oriented and the revolutionary of the Zodiac.

Mercury is in Aquarius until Monday, February 3, when it enters water sign Pisces. Pisces is a creative, artistic, and emotional sign — quite the foil to rational Aquarius. Use the rest of this shadow period to brainstorm some creative ways to manage both your personal and professional life.

Then, Mercury retrograde officially begins on Sunday, February 16. People with a lot of Pisces in their chart or signs ruled by Mercury (Gemini and Virgo) will be the most affected. Finally, Mercury retrograde reenters Aquarius on Wednesday, March 4 before the retrograde ends on Monday, March 9, the same day as a full moon in Virgo occurs. Virgo, an Earth sign ruled by Mercury, is known for its organization skills, which means that Monday is the perfect day to tidy up any messes made during retrograde. There will be a shadow period for about two weeks, during which you can reflect on anything that happened during the retrograde and revisit the themes.

How can I make the most out of this Mercury retrograde?

Not only is Mercury retrograde notorious for bringing exes out of the woodwork, this one occurs just two days after Valentine’s Day. Many folks end up feeling nostalgic on February 14, and end up texting people from the past — even those who ended up being heartbreakers. Be prepared for this possibility, both as a potential sender and receiver of such text messages.

Give both your partner and yourself the benefit of the doubt.

If you’re happily partnered and celebrating Valentine’s Day weekend, prepare have to have some patience and ask your partner to do the same. A romantic getaway may be wrought with travel delays, or you might show up at a restaurant only to learn you made the reservation for the wrong day. Communication is majorly affected during Mercury retrograde, so don’t be surprised if you stumble over your words during a romantic speech. Give both your partner and yourself the benefit of the doubt.

On the same day that Mercury retrograde begins, fighter planet Mars enters hardworking Capricorn. This is just the kind of disciplinarian energy that you need. While we’ve already mentioned that signing contracts is to be avoided if possible, there are times when you just have to put your name on the dotted line, so go for it — just make sure you double-check all the fine print. There’s no need to be overly paranoid just because of Mercury retrograde.

Your professional life may feel a bit more laborious, and you will have to hustle behind the scenes and wait for recognition. With Mars in Capricorn, it should be easy to get to work, just try not to take it personally if your contract doesn’t come through until after March 9. Mercury will be in Aquarius when the retrograde ends, which will help you reflect on any and all Mercury retrograde events with a detached and cool mindset. Good luck, and see you in June for the next one.

How Mercury Retrograde in Pisces Affects Each Zodiac Sign: February 16, 2020

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Aries

You like to put your foot on the gas and move at warp speed toward your destination, so what happens when you can’t? When an Aries hits a sign that says “Road Closed,” their temper flares. You can get exasperated to the max to the point where you even want to hit something. But violence isn’t the answer during Mercury retrograde, patience is. With Mercury retrograde, this is one time when you can’t use your sheer force to get what you want. The more you push, the worse you fail.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Taurus

Being a Taurus, your steadfast attitude can be thrown for a loop during this time. Not only are things not going well, but now your typically calm attitude is off too. Frustrating, right? Usually careful and considered, you make impulsive decisions during Mercury retrograde which don’t jive with your rational way of being. One of the biggest bummers? You miss that close, personal communication with the people you care about. When planned get-togethers go awry, you may blame the wrong people or things. Avoid misplaced anger.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Gemini

Mercury is your ruler, Gemini, so when it goes retrograde your whole world is thrown off. On a positive note, you’re a mutable sign who sees change (even bad) as a chance to make improvements. When Mercury retrograde puts up a roadblock, you just find an alternate route to get where you need to go. TBH, when you’re not in too big of a hurry, you welcome the challenge. Prepare for your precious social media apps to be down, though. Ouch.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Cancer

Get ready for emotional overload, Cancer. The more information (or misinformation) you’re bombarded with, the more tempted you are to retreat into your shell—but that only prolongs the inevitable. Moody doesn’t even begin to describe how you’ll feel as you attempt to deal with the chaos that can be caused by Mercury retrograde. And when things in your beloved home break down, you may start to spin out. Your attempts to insulate yourself from the effects could backfire. You want to remain gentle, nurturing, and loving, but this is a trying time for you.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Leo

While it’s no secret that Leos love to be the center of attention, your worst fear is to be in front of a group of people and have something go wrong. Enter: Mercury retrograde. This can cause presentations to fizzle and meetings to get off track—all due to things that aren’t even within your control. The teleconferencing signal gets lost, or your phone decides to reboot for no reason whatsoever. Contacts may also be lost, causing embarrassment when you need to get in touch with friends or colleagues. Back everything up and think through your plans thoroughly.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Virgo

You hate disorder, so this can be an ugly scenario for you, Virgo. When your ruler, Mercury, is retrograde, it feels like a betrayal from within. The things you can normally count on to get you through your day—order, routine, etc.—are replaced with chaos and uncertainty. Without organization, reliability, and careful analysis, what are your options? Lean into your mutable sign’s adaptability and your earth sign’s knack for staying grounded.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Libra

Most Libras value their relationships above all else, but Mercury retrograde can cut you off from the people who are your lifelines. Now what?! The way you’re used to communicating (social media, text, phone, etc.) may be spotty, so you’ll have to find alternative ways to keep in touch. Since negotiations of all kinds can also be thrown off, pay close attention to contracts and agreements. All of the old friends, former coworkers, and exes appearing now can be good or bad news depending on how you ended things the first time.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Scorpio

As a fixed sign, you don’t really enjoy the ups and downs that life can throw your way. You’re not going to be first in line to ride the Mercury retrograde rollercoaster, but if you have no choice, you’re resourceful enough to take each curve as it comes. You’re also wise enough to know that even though it may be unpleasant, it has to end sometime. Patient Scorpio can endure almost anything (yes, even giving up that beloved sense of control) as long as you know it will stop eventually.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Sagittarius

This retrograde cycle gets you where it really hurts, Sagittarius: your ability to go, go, go. Mercury retrograde is notorious for messing with anything that helps get you where you need (or really want) to go. Bikes, buses, cars, planes, and trains can experience mechanical failures and other general difficulties, resulting in lost time and missed connections. Public transportation, traffic, and travel apps can be hit or miss, so make alternate plans and be prepared to slow down for once.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Capricorn

Uh oh, progress has slowed to a halt and your master plan has hit a snag. You’d rather do just about anything than sit there twiddling your thumbs when there’s real work to be done. Having to depend on other people (like the IT guy) to finish their job before you can restart yours is excruciating. Plus, as a cardinal sign, you’re used to taking the reins and doing it yourself, so not being in control of your own success or failure drives you nuts. Find some zen as you press reset, Capricorn.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Aquarius

As the high-tech junkie and gadget guru of astrology, this retrograde cycle is a particularly annoying time for you. When your go-to devices are on the fritz, you just might be forced to *gasp* find alternate ways to source your information. Luckily Aquarius, you’re an outgoing innovator who likes a challenge, so you may come out of Mercury retrograde with some excellent new contacts or skills to help you get ahead. Making adjustments and adapting is everything right now, and you excel at it.

Mercury Retrograde Effects on Pisces

Your intuition is usually on point, Pisces, but during Mercury retrograde your guesses and “feelings” are just off. With your psychic and intuitive abilities out of whack, the mix-ups that can result leave you feeling confused and out of sorts. After all, if you can’t trust your gut, what can you trust? Escape, whether to your happiest of daydreams, favorite secluded beach, or beautifully curated Instagram feed, won’t be easy right now either. This troubling time will require all of your creative abilities to find real solutions.

February 9, 2020 Full Moon In Leo

There are many layers to this Full Moon so I encourage you to vibe with what you feel. The February Full Moon falls on the 8th or 9th of the month, depending on your time zone. It rests in the sign of Leo, and its energy comes to tend to the fire that lives within our hearts. It comes to clear away all that dims our light and separates us from feeling connected to our journey. Leo is ruled by the Sun, so whenever we have a Full Moon in the sign of the Sun, it’s extra special. When Leo holds space for the Full Moon, its like a ray of light shining down on all that feels dark and heavy in our lives. Leo is a fire sign that reminds us to connect with all that lights us up. It reminds us to connect with our inner fire, with our inner Sun, and to remember that life is for experiencing rather than controlling.

What sets your soul on fire? What fans your inner flame? What brings you a sense of purpose as you move through the experiences of life? These are some of the questions the February Full Moon poses for us. It wants us to connect with these questions so we can work on clearing away all separates us from feeling present and at peace with our lives. There is something strengthening, motivating, and restorative about this Full Moon too, not just because it falls in the sign of Leo the lion, but also because it forms a harmonious alignment with the planet of motivation, Mars. Mars will be like a motivational speaker at our side, championing us along as we take on any challenges or projects during this time.

Mars’ energy will help inspire us to push past any fears that are holding us back or keeping our inner light small. If there are fears you have been holding onto, if there are things you would rather not look at, or pains that have felt just too heavy to carry, allow a little space for this Full Moon energy to hold you. Allow a little space for this Full Moon to start moving and shifting things out of your body, out of your mind, out of your heart, and out of your life. Full Moons are always portals for releasing, so if we tune in and allow the Full Moon’s energy to infuse with our own, we will find ourselves supported to let go of all that no longer serves.

We may even find ourselves harvesting whatever seeds we had planted during this time. We tend to forget that Full Moons are also harvest or culmination points where we can reap the benefits of all we have sown over the last six months. If there is something you have wanted to do, something you have wanted to try, something you have wanted to say, this Full Moon will give you the dose of self-belief and self-confidence that you need.

Its energy is there for us to use, but it’s only real if we act on it, if we let it in, if we allow it to guide us. While I always post a Full Moon Ritual, this is definitely one of those Full Moons where you want to set an intention to push past a fear or barrier in order to breakthrough to the other side. As long as we are moving from the heart, we should allow ourselves the freedom to try, fail, learn, and everything in between. Put yourself on the line, even if it makes you feel vulnerable, even if it’s scary, because that’s how you grow, that’s how you learn, that’s how you keep leveling up on your journey.

Overall, the February Full Moon is a time to stand in our power. It is a time to connect to our higher selves, and to walk in alignment with our highest calling. It is a time to connect to our own inner Sun, the core of who we are.

HOW WILL THE FEBRUARY 2020 FULL MOON EFFECT YOU

ARIES:
You’re encouraged to take it easy and put more time into things that you’re really invested in, which includes yourself. Though you may still find yourself working hard this month, goals are accomplished with patience, extra rest, and self-care. Tune in to your intuition, but don’t feel pressured to make big decisions. Romance gets interesting.

TAURUS:
This moon offers you an emotional catharsis if you’re open and ready for it. Understand that the past is giving way to things that are more in alignment with you and the person that you’re becoming. So while it’s OK to mourn the losses that may come up, try not to spend too much time trying to hold on what’s being removed from your life. Better things are on the way.

GEMINI:
While you’re usually a friend to many, it doesn’t necessarily mean that all are a friend to you. Keep this in mind as you’re called to be more intentional with your circle of friends and the folks you lend your time and resources to. But save a little something for yourself. This goes for your words and opinions too. With finances, be mindful of sudden expenses. Career-wise, you need a reset.

CANCER:
When it comes to your money and career you’re reminded to go where you’re valued, or to at least be more assertive when it comes to your worth and your desires for your professional life. Be wary of the naysayers and boundary pushers in your life, as they’ll only be unnecessary distractions for you. Seek out ways to revive your hope and inspiration.

LEO:
You could make some progress when it comes to your health and wellbeing, especially if you’ve been finding it hard to stay on track in terms of improving your fitness or nutrition. Meanwhile, you could receive some praise or attention for a project that you’ve worked hard on. Watch your money and finances though as errors or flat out fraud could be afoot.

VIRGO:
This moon might call for an emotional purge or release as you’re pushed to let go of the reigns and focus more on the things you do have power over versus the things (and the people) you don’t. You don’t always have to make things your business or problem to solve. With relationships, being clear and communicative can stave off trouble. You are lovable as you are.

LIBRA:
Partnerships are one of the focal points for you, but with the way the cosmos is set up, you’re going to have less and less tolerance for unsatisfying and thankless connections regardless of how much you want to be liked or wanted. That said, spend time on guarding your health and taking care of back-end things you’ve been putting off.

SCORPIO:
You love a challenge and often thrive in a crisis, but what if you worked to make things easier on yourself? That’s what this moon is asking you to do. Seek out ways that you can reconnect with joy, romance, and your passions instead. Though when it comes to an ex-lover, you might want to reconsider if a re-connection is worth it. Your career gets a boost.

SAGITTARIUS:
You might not be feeling as social as you’d like, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However you choose to spend your time, you’ll need to make sure it’s on people and things that are truly worth it. Money may be coming in this month, but you’ll need to be careful of burning through it. In love, there’s no need to settle. Healing could be had with a family matter.

CAPRICORN:
You’re reminded to avoid going through the motions with something (or someone) just because it feels safe to do so. You’ve got a lot of power backing you this, so find the courage to invest it into things that really rev your engine, even if it may seem impractical at first glance. Still, things could get confusing so pace yourself and take nothing personal.

AQUARIUS:
You might go back into hermit mode, which could give you the rest and relaxation you need. Just be mindful of spreading yourself too thin trying to be everything to everyone. Treat your time, energy, and money this month the same way — play close attention to each and spend them on things that can offer you some return on the investment. Believe in your worth.

PISCES:
In order to succeed, you’ll need to work on reprogramming yourself when it comes to how you think and speak about yourself. Where are you limiting or underselling yourself? It’s time to write a new narrative. Seek out the people that inspire you, but prepare to do things your own way.
