Should I just mention the WNY Blizzard of 2022 with the resultant chaos and delays?  Disruptions in technology and communication, as well as general chaos, always precede and follow the three-week astrological event.

Read on:

Shortly after this New Moon, Mercury will station retrograde, joining Mars, which has been in retrograde since the end of October. Both these planets in retrograde together are signaling us to take our time, revisit the past, (yeah blizzard of 1977) and consider the wisdom our past has shown us.

Mercury enters retrograde motion starting on December 28, 2022, and lasting into the new year! According to the age-old practice of astrology, we are all influenced by the effect of Mercury in retrograde. What exactly does it mean for each of us, though? Read on to find out.

Retroshade may sound like the title of a pop music album, but it’s so much more than a planetary buzzword! “Retroshade” is what happens after having a few weeks of revising and reimagining our lives while Mercury is retrograde. Think of it like the epilogue of your Mercury retrograde experience; it’s when you can look back on these conflicts and dilemmas with a clearer perspective. Now, you have the opportunity to make changes that matter. Therefore, it’s very common for people to break-up, move on and start embarking down a new path.

The pre-retrograde transit—which usually occurs two weeks before Mercury turns retrograde—sets the tone for the planetary moonwalk. At this time, you start seeing what lacks stability and consistency in your life. It’s very common for one’s Mercury retrograde story to begin at this time, as the pre-retrograde transit reveals the themes of the upcoming retrograde. Think of it like the prologue of your Mercury retrograde experience.

For example, if you were having problems with your significant other and arguing right before Mercury goes retrograde, it means that you’ll probably spend the next three weeks rebuilding and restructuring the relationship. However, after Mercury turns direct, you may come to the decision that you don’t want to dedicate your time and energy to the relationship any longer. You gave the relationship another chance during Mercury retrograde, and during the post-retrograde shadow, you’re second guessing the decision and wanting out of the partnership. See what I mean about this experience being challenging?

How Do You Survive The Retrograde Shadow Period?

The best way to survive the retroshade is to focus on yourself! Stop wondering what your ex is doing and whatever you do, do *not* stalk their social media. If someone ghosts you, let them remain a ghost. Confronting people during this time can bring a lot of ambiguity and extra confusion to the surface (and you certainly don’t need that). It’s also common for people to say things they don’t necessarily mean, so take things with a grain of salt. If people are insulting toward you, remember—their intent is to hurt, because they’re probably frustrated with their own retroshade drama.

In lighter news, the retroshade period is a beautiful time for self-care. Catch up on your beauty sleep as much as you can. Get a massage, take a hot bath and do things that make you feel good about yourself. Whatever you do, it’s important to remember that you aren’t being rushed by the universe. If you’re feeling guilt over some of the frivolous purchases you made during Mercury retrograde, feel free to return it (that is, if you haven’t already lost the receipt).

Don’t feel obligated to stick with reckless decisions you’ve made since the pre-retrograde phase bega. Remember—Mercury is running slower than usual and retracing it steps for a *third time* during this transit. Feeling dizzy, yet? Clear your head by using this time to your advantage. Make amends with people you’ve had issues with over the past several weeks. But most importantly, make amends with yourself.

If your car’s dashboard is flashing eyebrow-raising symbols, you feel like you’re constantly getting wires crossed with everyone from your S.O. to your bestie and boss, and blasts from the past have you wondering if the universe is sending you meaningful messages or just messing with you, take heart — it’s not just you. What you’re experiencing is the effect of the fourth and final (whew!) Mercury retrograde of 2022.

Now more than ever, we rely on our devices and a strong Wifi connection to do just about everything. So, when Mercury retrograde — which tends to throw a wrench in all things technology, communication, and transportation — strikes, we’re even more inclined to lose our minds.

Not only does Mercury go retrograde often — three or four times a year for three weeks at a time — but, to make matters worse, there’s this: You can feel the effects both before and after. That’s because there are two phases — Mercury retroshade and Mercury storm — leading in and out of the official Mercury retrograde period when the messenger planet could spur slowdowns, miscommunication, and glitches galore.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Mercury retroshade period and the Mercury storm — and why they don’t have to mean feeling defeated at every turn.

A key thing to know about the planet of communication: It’s the fastest moving planet in our solar system — moving around the sun every 88 Earth days, traveling at nearly 112,000 mph — which is why its slowdowns and standstills are felt so acutely. And before it can go retrograde or appear to move backward from our vantage point on Earth, it needs to reduce its speed and pause for a bit. Think of active recovery and rest periods during an interval workout.

Two weeks before a Mercury retrograde officially begins, it slows down, and for two weeks following Mercury direct, it needs to regain its full speed. These periods are referred to as the pre-and post-shadow periods (or retroshade). During the pre-shadow, Mercury will move directly through a certain point in the sky referred to as degrees (e.g., it could be something like 2º Scorpio). During its retrograde, it’ll move back through those degrees and then back through that spot once it’s on its road to full-speed recovery after the retrograde ends. In short, the pre-shadow begins when Mercury, moving direct, hits the point at which it’ll be when its retrograde ends. And the post-shadow ends when Mercury, again moving direct, returns to the point at which it’ll be when its retrograde began. It’s basically like an astrological zig-zag.

This means that there are three weeks of slowdown (pre-shadow), three weeks of actual backward motion (retrograde), and three weeks of revving back up to full speed (post-shadow), so nine weeks total of Mercury mishigas.

What to Know About the Post-Shadow

Mercury going direct (or ending its retrograde phase) doesn’t necessarily translate to fewer headaches. That’s because after we celebrate Mercury going direct, the retroshade period lingers for another two-ish weeks. Typical retrograde communication breakdowns and device mishaps are still likely, as Mercury is still working its way up to its full speed. This can also function as a post-retrograde cleanup phase, during which you can reflect on whatever came up for you during the official transit and continue to tie up loose ends.

It’s entirely possible you won’t feel the Mercury retroshades but you will feel another pre- and post-phase, referred to as the Mercury retrograde storm. The storm is the result of the fastest-moving planet slowing down significantly, almost to a standstill, right around the time it turns retrograde and then when it turns direct. During these periods, slowdowns, delays, and miscommunications start to rear their ugly head a bit more apparent.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor:

It’s that time of year again! The final Mercury Retrograde of 2022 begins on December 29, and it’s moving backwards and tearing up the sign of Capricorn. Taurus and Virgo should have an easier time this retrograde compared to other signs, while Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn will be facing the most drama over the next few weeks.

This retrograde is going down in Capricorn, which is a sign most associated with work and public image. That means that you’re dealing with more snafus at work—like scheduling mishaps, missed meetings, overdue tasks—and communicating with your coworkers or boss is probably feeling much more difficult right now. Because Mercury Retrograde is happening in Capricorn, it also focuses a ton on your relationships and exes, because it’s right next to Venus, the planet of love, when it turns retrograde.

Don’t panic, though: Mercury Retrograde isn’t a bad time by any means, but it certainly is a trying time! People, jobs, and projects from the past are coming back around, urging you to deal with stuff you might’ve thought (and hoped) was already ancient history. That ex-flame you kind of forgot about after the first few dates? Well, guess who’s back (back again). That old job you left with tons of unfinished projects on your plate? An old coworker (or maybe even your old boss) is coming back around to give you a piece of their mind. On a brighter note, maybe you were super into a fresh hobby at some point, or totally binged (but never finished!) a new movie or show. Now’s the time to dive back into old interests, on or off screen, and decide if you want to give ’em a second shot!

Remember the three R’s of Mercury Retrograde—this is a time to review, rework, and redo. If someone or something from the past unexpectedly resurfaces, don’t immediately shoot it down! Hear them out. You never know: An old connection from the past could be exactly what you need to move forward with your life. Be open-minded. Good luck!

But what’s true for every significant astrological aspect is true here, as well: The day you’ll feel the effects of Mercury’s backward turn the most will be the day it goes retrograde or direct.

Here’s how it will affect your sign:

Aries

There’s a big, big goal you’ve been shooting for, but you can’t make too much progress on it right now—there’s past work, unreviewed details, and a few finishing touches this project needs before it’s 100% ready. Keep up the good work, be patient, and don’t get frustrated when you hit any obstacles.

Taurus

If you have any winter travel plans, I really, really suggest triple-checking your schedule, showing up for any flights or trains very early, and making sure that literally every single thing you need is packed in your suitcase! The biggest struggles you’re running into right now are going to be related to travel and school. So, if you’re a student, make sure you’re studying hard and putting in your best work!

Gemini

You need to find balance in your deepest, most intimate relationships, Gemini. You’re either giving too much or not enough. Your partner might not be satisfied by you, or maybe you’re not getting any satisfaction from them. Talk it out, share your feelings, and you’ll find that lost equilibrium.

Cancer

With this Mercury Retrograde popping off in your chart’s zone of relationships, you can count on a handful of exes making cameos in your life soon. Not just romantic exes, but former friends and old colleagues, too. If there’s still beef between you and any ghosts of work, love, or friendships past, now’s the time to finally squelch it, so you can move on from them for good.

Leo

Work is totally draining you right now, and you might feel like you haven’t had a proper break from the grind in a loooong time. Well, Mercury Retrograde is definitely reinforcing that vibe, and that’s because you need to take a look at your day-to-day routine. Are you being as productive as possible? Are you staying healthy? Are you taking care of yourself? Improve your routines and set healthier habits, and you’ll fly through the rest of your work to-do list, stress-free.

Virgo

It’s gonna be a much easier Mercury Retrograde for you compared to other signs, Virgo. You’re being asked to get back in touch with your inner child right now. So start doing things that satisfy any childlike curiosities and desires and (most importantly!) will be v fun. Maybe you were obsessed with a particular band or a movie back in the day—why did you stop being a fan? Reintroduce childhood pleasures into your life. It’ll improve your wellbeing a ton.

Libra

Family-related drama is the name of your game this Mercury Retrograde, Libra. Well, that, and also any issues going down at home. Your fam might be having a tough time getting along, and your roomies are acting extra difficult now, too—or at least, that’s how you’re seeing things. Focus on compromising with people and listening to them a little more, and you’ll successfully work through these problems.

Scorpio

You think you know exactly what to say right now, but whenever you open your mouth, all you get is word salad. So. Frustrating. You’re learning the power your words have, Scorpio, and just how important it is to think things through and speak your mind clearly. Before hitting send on any emails or texts, it’s a good idea to double-check ’em and make sure everything is coherent and typo-free.

Sagittarius

It’s time to take a look at your budget, Sagittarius! If you’re feeling particularly short on cash at the moment, I suggest looking through your bank statements. Where are you overspending, and where might you be able to save up a little more cash? You’d be surprised at just how much you’re spending on crap you barely even use. It’s time to get your priorities straight!

Capricorn

With this retrograde going on in your sign, you’re arguably having the worst go at this transit, Cap. But that doesn’t mean it’s for sure going to be a bad time! You just need to be extra-careful with how you convey your thoughts to others. Focus on saying things nicely, and work on listening better. Your communication skills need to be improved. This retrograde is helping you to do just that by pointing out all the problems of your current style of communicating.

Aquarius

Exes of all kinds are coming back around! This retrograde is activating your chart’s zone of past cycles and patterns, so you’re definitely taking a loooong trip down memory lane these days. Don’t assume those exes have bad intentions—make a real effort to hear them out! Then, respond nicely, and move forward from there.

Pisces

Your friend group is like one big game of musical chairs right now. Old friends are coming back around, while some of your current buddies are jumping ship, and you’re learning a ton about the people you hang out with—for better or for worse. There’s drama ahead, sure. But if you focus on eliminating the toxic, shitty connections and working on the positive, healthy friendships in your life, you’ll reach the end of this retrograde with the best squad ever.

Our card for this week is the Eight of Swords Upright

Where are you feeling restricted?

The Eight of Swords reveals that you feel trapped and restricted by your circumstances. You believe your options are limited with no clear path out.

Be mindful that your thoughts and beliefs are no longer serving you. You may be overthinking things, creating negative patterns or limiting yourself by only considering the worst-case scenario.

Time to get out of your head and let go of those thoughts and beliefs holding you back. As you change your thoughts, you change your reality.

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones, and you will start to create a more favorable situation for yourself.

Trust there is a way out of your current predicament. You just need a new perspective. Be open to finding the answer rather than getting stuck on the problem.

Take back your power and personal accountability and open your eyes to the options in front of you. The fact is you do have choices, even if you do not like them. You are not powerless.

Ask your Tarot cards: What thoughts and beliefs are no longer serving me?

Eight of Swords Keywords

UPRIGHT: Negative thoughts, self-imposed restriction, imprisonment, victim mentality

REVERSED: Self-limiting beliefs, inner critic, releasing negative thoughts, open to new perspectives

Eight of Swords Description

The Eight of Swords shows a woman bound and blindfolded. Eight swords surround her, seemingly trapping her in place, a symbol of the limiting thoughts, beliefs and mindset that prevent her from moving forward in her life. However, look closer: if the woman removed her blindfold, she would quickly realize that she can escape her predicament by letting go of her limiting beliefs and establishing a new, more empowered mindset. The water pooled at her feet suggests that her intuition might see what her eyes cannot.

Eight of Swords Upright

The Eight of Swords reveals that you feel trapped and restricted by your circumstances. You believe your options are limited with no clear path out. You might be in an unfulfilling job, an abusive relationship, a significant amount of debt or a situation way out of alignment with your inner being. You are now trapped between a rock and a hard place, with no resolution available. However, take note that the woman in the card is not entirely imprisoned by the eight swords around her, and if she wanted to escape, she could. She merely needs to remove the blindfold and free herself from the self-imposed bindings that hold her back.

When the Eight of Swords appears in a Tarot reading, it comes as a warning that your thoughts and beliefs are no longer serving you. You may be over-thinking things, creating negative patterns or limiting yourself by only considering the worst-case scenario. The more you think about the situation, the more you feel stuck and without any options. It is time to get out of your head and let go of those thoughts and beliefs holding you back. As you change your thoughts, you change your reality. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones, and you will start to create a more favorable situation for yourself.

The Eight of Swords assures you there is a way out of your current predicament – you just need a new perspective. You already have the resources you need, but it is up to you to use those resources in a way that serves you. Others may be offering you help, or there may be an alternative solution you haven’t yet fully explored. Be open to finding the answer rather than getting stuck on the problem.

The Eight of Swords is often associated with a victim mentality. You surrendered your power to an external entity, allowing yourself to become trapped and limited in some way. You may feel that it isn’t your fault – you have been placed here against your will. You may feel like the victim, waiting to be rescued, but is this energy serving you? If not, it is imperative you take back your power and personal accountability and open your eyes to the options in front of you. The fact is you do have choices, even if you do not like them. You are not powerless.

At times, the Eight of Swords indicates that you are confused about whether you should stay or go, particularly if you are in a challenging situation. It is not as clear-cut as you would like, making the decision very difficult. You have one foot in, hoping things can work out, but your other foot is out the door, ready to leave. The trouble is that you worry either option could lead to negative consequences, and so you remain stuck where you are. Again, this card is asking you to get out of your head and drop down into your gut and your intuition so you can hear your inner guidance. Your thoughts are not serving you right now, but your intuition is. Trust yourself.

Today is the new moon.  Don’t forget your Law of Abundance Check. Did you know the Law of Attraction and astrology go hand in hand? By combining these two principles, you channel the Universe’s energies to become more aligned with your desires. The Law of Attraction is the most powerful Universal law. It shows you where you place your thoughts and how energy can create your reality. You will manifest and attract that energy if you are constantly being negative.

Utilizing it, along with astrology and numerology, can take your manifestations to the next level. Understanding these concepts and how universal factors can influence the flow of abundance in your life will help you better align with the abundance you deserve.

January 2023 Themes

2023 is a spiritually transformative year for many, and the first month brings an abundance of energies from direct planetary stations, an Aquarius New Moon, and the Lunar New Year

January 2023 Themes

Some of the themes we will experience this month are:

  • Finding peace, solitude, and silence
  • The embodiment of love and wisdom
  • Mastering passions and emotional impulses
  • Development of greater awareness and clairvoyance
  • Discovery of spiritual charisma and hidden mysteries

Instead, abundance is an appreciation of life’s fullness, joy, and strength of the mind, body, and spirit. It also means that you are connected to your higher self and aligned with the infinite Universe, which is the source of all.

From a cosmic perspective, abundance is beyond our worldly needs. It’s the discovery of what the Soul needs to express itself fully.

You probably have a long list of things you need to manifest or manifestations you need to review. But before you go crazy. Set realistic goals. Remember the old saying, “ask, and you shall receive?” Well, what you put out into the Universe comes back. So, it’s crucial to ask and put out exactly what you want and trust that it will show up.

How to Attract The 4 Types of Abundance in January

The year begins with the heart of Capricorn Season unleashing new awareness as we cross the threshold to realize our boundaries, duties, and responsibilities. Capricorn season reminds us to structure our dreams into something tangible and not waste energy or resources. The Sun’s journey through this Cardinal sign is an opportunity to connect with your inner authority, gain emotional maturity, and release self-judgments or self-imposed limitations.

Capricorn also reminds us of gain, wealth, and status. In comparison, the Sun in Aquarius leads us toward new ways of self-expression and manifesting our wishes and dreams.

1. Material Abundance

Regarding manifesting material abundance, Saturnian-ruled Capricorn and Aquarius provide a rich foundation for building new systems.

Material abundance is often the area most people focus on when it comes to manifestation. Material abundance includes our basic financial needs and professional and financial achievement.

The following days are ripe for manifesting material abundance:

  • January 4th
  • January 24/25
  • January 29/30

On January 4th, 3:07 AM CT, a Venus-Jupiter sextile will create a delightful atmosphere and enhance the intention setting. This transit is an indicator of abundance and good luck. Both Venus and Jupiter have your back in terms of work and money. It’s a fruitful time to lay the groundwork for improving financial situations.

Not long after a magical New Moon a Sun-Jupiter sextile from January 24th to January 25th brings optimism, happiness, expansion, and good luck to manifest material abundance. This is a perfect time to rediscover your passions and inner motives. Opportunities are on the horizon, even if you don’t sense them yet. It’s time to take action. Do not sit around. Chances may increase using networking and social connections.

Another money-making indicator occurs on January 29th, 7:45 PM CT, when the Sun and Mars form a harmonious connection. Again, this is an excellent time to manifest and take well-calculated risks. Expect a boost of self-confidence and enthusiasm. A First Quarter moon in Taurus currently encourages you to get serious about wanting your intentions to take hold and manifest.

If you’ve been struggling with attracting abundance, try a cleansing ritual, meditation, and self-analysis, and reassess your goals and projects to ensure you are working at a healthy pace and not forcing yourself to manifest.

2. Relationship Abundance

Capricorn season approaches relationships with commitment, discipline, intention, and seriousness, holding all connections with high standards. This energy encourages a more outstanding commitment to healing, growth, and manifestation in intimate or platonic relationships: Mid-month, the Sun ventures off into Aquarius, who promotes connections of all kinds.

Combining these energies with other astrological transits makes it an excellent time for manifesting relationship abundance. However, the type of abundance will vary. For example, Capricorn provides structure and new foundations for abundance, whereas Aquarius helps us approach things more open-mindedly and deceptively.

Remember, an abundance mindset stems from love and compassion for yourself. It also consists of believing that you are worthy and deserving of love. So, pour into yourself the way you would want others to pour into you.

The following days in January are perfect for manifesting relationship abundance:

  • January 9th
  • January 11th
  • January 14/15
  • January 18th
  • January 26th

On January 9th, 9:21 AM CT, Venus, and Mars form a harmonious connection, and because of this, it is an excellent time for manifesting relationship abundance. Dating and connections in current relationships become gentle and softer. This transit is all about love and raw sexual desire, the balance of roughness with our softness, complementing our feminine and masculine energies—set intentions for balance, harmony, and softness internally and externally.

If you are single, something magical happens when these two planets come together that will change the direction of your love life. Of course, this energy also impacts platonic, business, friend, and family relationships.

Then, a Venus-Node square on January 11th is a beautiful time to review your relationships and any connections that may seem out of balance in giving and receiving. Set intentions for clearing out harmful karma in relationships with harm to none.

Feelings are easily aroused around January 14th and 15th, when Venus clashes with Uranus. Relationships are hit with sudden electric attraction, which makes it a great time to manifest flexibility and acceptance through change. Intention setting encourages focusing on balancing your needs for stability with your underlying desires for freedom and spontaneity. Experimentation in the bedroom would provide extra stimulation and excitement. However, there can be abrupt beginnings and endings. So, focus on living in the present moment.

Sun-Pluto conjunction on January 18th brings a massive amount of energy to relationships. Although, there is a potential for deep-seated issues to arise. This is a beautiful time to manifest healing for hidden issues of mistrust, jealousy, and power struggles in relationships.

Lastly, on January 26th, 8:29 PM CT, Venus enters Pisces, spotlighting our relationships to manifest unconditional and spiritual love. Relationships tend to have a more romantic, intuitive, and compassionate tone. It’s a great time to embrace love and explore ways to connect with others.

3. Self-Care Abundance

Self-care is a way to celebrate, honor, and nurture your mind, body, and spirit. It also enriches your manifestations and provides more harmony in your life. Self-care and self-love are putting yourself first to be your best self. Embodying your best self means that you nourish and nurture your well-being.

The vibration of self-care tells the Universe you appreciate yourself and are worthy.

We should practice self-care at least once daily; however, certain days hold more vital energies to deepen our self-care practice and connection with our higher self.

The more you care for and love yourself, the more you will attract positive experiences. Self-care is crucial to attracting abundance in your life, and the following days in January are excellent for raising your vibration and manifesting self-care abundance.

  • January 6/7
  • January 12th
  • January 21/23
  • January 30/31

On January 6th, 5:09 PM CT, a Full Moon in Cancer arrives, making it a highly emotional and intuitive time that is the perfect transit for manifesting emotional balance and self-care. Full Moons focus on release and refinement, helping you notice what needs to change. Connecting to the Moon can be calming to the mind and body, also helping to bring long-term goals and dreams to life. Remember to carve out time to parent and take care of yourself emotionally.

Use the weekend to deepen your self-care practice through:

  • Grounding yourself
  • Tuning into nature
  • Meditation
  • Deep breathing
  • Cleaning your physical space
  • Giving thanks

Then, on January 12th, Mars goes direct in Gemini, prompting a profound shift in our energies and physical drive. Mars’ energy is powerful near its stations and can often seem problematic. Therefore, self-care through exercise, yoga, music, and meditation will help curb anger or frustration.

Mid-month brings an electrifying shift during Aquarius season, with a New Moon, Uranus direct, and Venus-Saturn conjunction from January 21st to 23rd. Since the New Moon can offer a fresh perspective, you should use the energies to manifest from a place of abundance and not scarcity.

Venus-Saturn conjunction helps you set boundaries by teaching you how to say no to what is non-essential, so you can say yes to what truly matters. Poor boundaries can affect your emotional and mental well-being.

Lastly, the end of the month brings no significant aspects; however, a Moon in Gemini on January 30th and 31st can stir inner tensions, nervousness, and boredom- suggesting the need to manifest self-care abundance. Gemini energy encourages reading a book, listening to a podcast on a curious topic, writing, or bingeing a show that’s been on your watchlist for ages.

It’s normal to want to take a break and spend time alone. Recharge your batteries! Pamper yourself and celebrate making it through another year.

Other examples of self-care include:

  • Angel guidance
  • Alternate nostril breathing
  • Cleansing and fasting
  • Counseling or therapy
  • Life coaching and energy healing
  • Prioritizing your mental health
  • Taking a relaxing bath
  • Dancing to your favorite song
  • Getting a massage, acupuncture, or other forms of holistic therapy

Connecting with natural self-care is how you take back your power and attract abundance. Sometimes, that simply means taking a break!

4. Spiritual Abundance

Spiritual abundance is your ability to tap into your deepest inner self’s desires and manifest them in your current reality.

This has less to do with the material world and more with the connection to your higher self and the Universe. Spiritual abundance also means that desire, but with no lacking feeling, only trust because the Universe will support you in all forms. And most importantly, the Universe will provide when you care for your mind, body, and spirit.

So, commit to all areas of your life, especially your inner world.

The human spirit is abundant, not our resources, and by tapping into spiritual energies, you attract abundance in all forms into your life.

The first month of 2023 brings spiritual growth that will carry into the rest of the year. Excellent days to connect with your higher self to uncover happiness, joy, and inspiration to enrich and increase a deeper spiritual connection in your life are:

  • January 6th
  • January 13th
  • January 20-22th
  • January 26th

A Full Moon in intuitive Cancer on January 6th is the perfect ingredient for manifesting spiritual abundance. Compassionate Cancer encourages psychic energies at its highest vibrations. This is also a great time to cleanse the psyche and release emotional baggage that blocks you from your spiritual truth.

A Sun sextile Neptune transit on January 13th heightens intuition, imagination, creativity, psychic awareness, and spiritual abundance. As a result, you may be more attracted to the mystical and spiritual side of life or develop an interest in metaphysics.

Then, the Aquarius season begins on January 20th, along with a New Moon and Uranus direct on January 23rd, instigating change and new and inspiring thoughts. This is a beautiful opportunity to tune into what makes your spirit unique. New Moons and Uranus direct seek to break this paradigm and bring you into the realm of abundance.

Finally, the month closes out with Venus entering Pisces, the Sun clashing with the Nodes, and a Mercury-Uranus trine, between January 26th and 31st, stimulating greater receptivity to spirituality and the divine. Venus, in her dignified position, the sign of enlightenment and mysticism, inspires you to align with spiritual values such as gratitude, compassion, empathy, kindness, forgiveness, and unconditional love. These transits indicate a potential spiritual awakening, often triggered by a relationship or your sense of self.

Overall, 2023 is a highly spiritual year that aligns us with our divine selves. Remember, gratitude is the key that unlocks abundance. So, follow your intuition and spiritual guidance; it’s leading you toward success!

What Will You Manifest This Month?

Manifestation is the ability to consciously attract your desires into reality by changing your thoughts, focusing on the powerful mind, and setting intentions. So, get yourself in a constant positive frequency. Have gratitude, and apply the deep belief that you are enough, have enough, and deserve abundance in all forms.

Even when your energy is low or you are not feeling optimistic, don’t be hard on yourself and engage in negative thinking. Everything you experience is attracted to you because the Law of Attraction responds to your frequency. Therefore, your actions, feelings, and thoughts are vital in the Law of Attraction.

So, check in with your feelings this month, shift your mindset, trust yourself, and tap into January’s planetary alignments to attract and manifest abundance in your life.

Affirm“I am worthy of abundance. In gratitude for blessings of the past, present, and future.”

The Capricorn New Moon also falls at one degree of the zodiac sign, a highly charged and karmic degree that indicates new beginnings and the start of a new chapter. It is interesting to note that this was a theme for last month’s New Moon and will continue for the next three New Moons to follow!

This new Moon in Capricorn is all about the small steps that add up to the bigger dreams. Capricorn teaches us definition. Part of this definition is deciding how each day, week, and month will look, and how we spend our precious time. The end of the year is an exciting—and weird—time. It’s the end of an era, but also the mark of a new beginning, and you might have some complicated feelings about that.

This new Moon acts as a doorway to peer into our next venture, sitting at the transition point of a new year, a new energy, and a new chapter of our lives. This is an auspicious opportunity to sit down with any intentions, goals, or dreams you may have for your year ahead and let the Capricorn within you get to work. Once you feel clear about where you want to focus your energy moving into the next year, write your intentions. The place to start crafting your intentions is your morning ritual. Over this new Moon, take the time to define the start of your day. Within these early hours, we set the stage for life to unfold, and we lay the foundation for our dreams to flourish. Even if you don’t know what you want this new Moon, or this next year, set aside the space to find out.

Decide what time you want to wake each day, what your first moments will look like, and what practices will guide your energy. What we do in the morning sets our vibration for the day. It is a powerful time, and one that we often skip. As you work with the Capricorn new Moon, practice a ritual that will extend to your early hours—before the sun scatters the energy of the day and when you can find peace within the stillness around you.

As you begin to establish routines and rituals for the start of the year with the help of this new Moon, also decide what is worth your focus. What projects, people, or aspirations do you want to feed with your energy? Capricorn reminds us that we live in a world contained by time. We can bend time, but we cannot break it. We must decide how to spend our time and use it to manifest our intentions with focus, determination, and clarity.

Think of energy as your currency. You can spend it, invest it, or save it. There will be times you want to spend it because you have enough. There will be times you want to save it because you don’t feel abundant in it. Then there will be times you want to invest it, meaning you give it toward something and may even feel depleted for a time, but eventually, you will gain back more energy than you originally sent out.

Align with this new Moon to decide the overall vibration you wish to manifest in your life. What are you open to receiving? What energies do you want returned for your time and focus? And what vibrations support your growth? Of course, sometimes we have to take an external journey to find our purpose, but really all we are doing is finding ourselves, and that is what gives rise to our purpose. Your purpose lives inside of you and can be activated under this Capricorn New Moon. Set an intention to connect with all of who you are, for that is where you will find your inner flame. That is where you will connect with what your soul came here to do.

What our soul came here to do doesn’t need to have a name or official title. We also don’t just have one purpose. We can have many purposes that are activated at different times in our lives.

Under this Capricorn New Moon, connect with the purpose that feels most relevant to you and where you are in your life right now. See if you can work with that purpose and extract the wisdom it contains.

As we wrap up 2022, we have a lot of energy cautioning us to slow down, retreat, and make time for relaxation.

Winter Solstice is a season of initiation with thresholds of consciousness crossed, opportunities to connect with the inner spirit, and the opening of new paths towards self-realization.

Why is the winter solstice so powerful?

Because the winter solstice is the reversal of the sun’s ebbing in the sky, in ancient times it was seen as the symbolic death and rebirth of the sun or of a sun god.

The energy of winter is that of going within. It’s the fruitful darkness and silence out of which our soul’s yearnings and new inspirations can eventually emerge. As we consciously link our awareness to nature’s cycles, our understanding of our own personal growth cycles begin to deepen.

It seems like everyone’s taking a cold, hard look at their long-term goals these days, so if you’ve been feeling the random urge to revamp your vision board, it’s not just you. As 2022 comes to a close, it’s impossible not to consider the plans and objectives you have for the new year, and with the upcoming winter solstice, you’ll be eager to set these ambitions in motion. As we leave the adventures of Sagittarius season behind, the spiritual meaning of the 2022 winter solstice will be about preparing for a very ambitious 2023, so get ready to be booked and busy.

The sun will shift into Capricorn on Dec. 21 at 4:49 p.m. ET, marking the official start of the winter season. Under this cardinal, earth sign, every sign will be invited to initiate endeavors that provide stability and structure. While Capricorn energy has a tendency to be a bit tedious, its reward is in the discipline it encourages. Without a plan, it’s impossible to reach any kind of finish line — and Capricorn season is the perfect time to take advantage of a focused head-start.

The winter solstice coincides with the start of Capricorn season, which means that the sun will be shifting into this cardinal, earth sign right as winter officially begins. As Saturn-ruled zodiac sign, Capricorn is all about setting and achieving goals that require immense discipline and structure. The pragmatic nature of this season will allow each sign to not only set realistic goals, but work toward achieving them — without distractions. Since success tends to require some form of sacrifice, every sign will be leaning into the self-control required in order to see success. Capricorn season is ensuring your discipline will ultimately pay off.

What the New Moon in Capricorn Means for You

Have you been staying small because of fear or self-doubt? It’s time to expand into a new way of being.

The new Moon in Capricorn on December 23 is the last new Moon of 2022. The new Moon, which occurs every twenty-nine days, is known as a time of darkness in the lunar cycle. Darkness can be viewed in many ways. We often associate it with negativity or sadness. It is inherently neither.

A better way to describe darkness would be an inward pull of energy. Darkness is what we see when our eyes are closed in meditation or before sleeping. It denotes a time when the light is shut out from our consciousness. When we are in darkness, we are with ourselves and our unique energy. It becomes a time to travel further inward to the depths of the subconscious mind, allowing answers and ideas to float to the surface, rather than looking for them in the external world.

The new Moon and the Sun are positioned within the same zodiac sign. This conjunction provides a spark of energy that pushes us to create intentions and changes in our lives. It is a time to take stock of our lives, think about what is working and what is not. It’s a time to shed the things that are not aligned with our grand vision and take steps toward the things that are in alignment.

Capricorn teaches us that energy and attention are precious resources. We only have so much of them, and they can be used up in a variety of ways. Before you set intentions on this new Moon, feel into what is stealing your energy. Ask yourself what distracts you from being the person you want to be. This may take the form of unprocessed emotions, attachments to the past, expectations of what could be, or even relationships.

Ideally, you want to spend your energy on things or people who give you the same energy back. When you exist in a reciprocal relationship with everything in your life, you are never depleted. Identify what is absorbing your energy and preventing you from directing your full attention to your potential. Are you preoccupied with something that does not deserve your attention? Is someone asking too much of you? Are you unable to focus because of emotions that have yet to be resolved?

While new Moons usher in new beginnings, this one also carries the energy of release. Spend time before the new Moon in Capricorn getting clear about where and how you are spending your energy. Notice where you are gaining energy back and where you are losing it. Align with the structure of Capricorn to create containers and boundaries for the things that take too much from you.

If certain emotions are taking up your attention and focus, commit to resolving and releasing them. Spend time each day processing your emotions and giving them limited attention until they are no longer clamoring for your energy. This practice may look like dedicating fifteen or twenty minutes a day to journaling about your emotions so they feel seen and heard but do not try to absorb your whole day.

Likewise, you can do this practice with anything asking for too much attention. Perhaps a person is trying to absorb too much of your time. You can give them a limited engagement every week or every other week so they feel seen while you have a healthy boundary in place.

You can also do this with attachments to the past. Give yourself space each week or day to give these attachments attention, then resist the urge to think about them throughout the day. Empower yourself to be in charge of your attention. Focus your energy on what you want and not what is calling for it. Also, commit to finding things that give back to you. This may be a project, a person, or an activity. Become aware of what restores your energy, dropping you into a cycle of reciprocity.

Your horoscope for the New Moon in Capricorn:

Aries

Going through the mud is a requirement for you. Keep an open mind when it comes to getting buggy and grimy. Leaving some encounters with a little dirt under your nails is a part of the process. Turns out, the road to success is paved with hard work and dedication. Manifestation is the result of an accumulation of your efforts.

Taurus

Oh, sugar, just because you have a great idea doesn’t mean everyone else will see your vision. For many of you, developing continuing education plans might be a worthy consideration. If you feel like something is not working and still believe in it, maybe finding help is the next great step. Grab your journal and create a list of five people you want to be like. Figure out the recipe that led to their success and then list the ingredients.

Gemini

Sometimes, our new beginnings start with an ending. As you begin to enter the next stages of your life, it’s important for you to be mindful of who you surround yourself with. Of course, some of your friends are surviving circumstances, but others might be more like anchors pulling you down. Give yourself time to journal about how you share your most valuable resource—bb, that’s you.

Cancer

The relationship you desire may not be able to happen because of the work that you do. Of course, as the cosmic curator of your life, I do NOT recommend shrinking your legacy for a lover. Instead, look at your ever-expanding list of duties and consider saying “no” instead of of immediately jumping to fill in the blanks. Sometimes, when we allow space for our idle minds, we can more easily attract who we desire.

Leo

You know the expression “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result”? That’s not true, dear. How you handle rejection, repetition, and failure matters more than participating in resilience rallies. Unfortunately, “no” is the first step to landing on a “yes.” Try to hold back on groaning and feeling low about the outcome. Of course, you should honor your feelings just be sure you don’t spiral downward. You know the the process is lined with mistakes and setbacks, so trust in what you know you’re capable of!

Virgo

A level head will get you far, Remember that just as thoughts aren’t facts, neither are feelings! In the love department, you might feel mildly overwhelmed by your fears, thoughts, and misbeliefs. Be sure that you’re moving through your flirtations with a reasonable mind. Building a connection with someone new or going to new relationship heights with your partner takes time.

Libra

I am all for community development and development with the help of community. When you have healthy communal support, feelings of being protected, cherished, and appreciated can follow. When you’ve felt let down by community or family, the desire to retreat and find what you need from lovers or close friends becomes a natural reaction. If you face this kind of conflict, consider halting your reactions and think about working with your family first.

Scorpio

Your wisdom from previous experiences might come into conflict with who you want to be. A part of you might want to lead through your work life with the energy of an authority, which is very honorable! When you set goals for yourself, you’re holding yourself to the standard that they may actually come into fruition. Be sure not to set the goal post too high though—there are levels to success, and respecting them is how you become eminent!

Sagittarius

Sagittarius, to reach your goals, you must be ready for a long-distance run. Sprints can be your pitfalls, so please be wary of spontaneous quests. Of course, you should approach the world with an open mind—that’s how you make the best of the unknown. A willingness to learn and explore is a great quality to have. Just be sure you have your priorities in order.

Capricorn

Some of you might need to create a chart that examines all of your responsibilities. This can be done by listing them off in your journal or actually creating an Excel sheet (especially if you have Virgo placements). Once you have an idea of all you do, start thinking about how to best to move forward with your responsibilities. As the year comes to its end, you can expect for a new burst of activities to follow. Will you make time for them before or after they come?

Aquarius

It’s a perfect time to close your mouth and surrender to the unknown. You are a knowledgeable person. Even though you may not feel fully understood by the world, ask yourself, “Who is?” This New Moon is a great time for you to dedicate time to retreat and escape from regular life. Think of activities you can commit to that you won’t give up easily. Longevity is key to your wellness.

Pisces

Dear Pisces, my favorite fishy face! You’re truly an amazing person—do you know that about yourself? The community around you depends on your greatness, meaning you have so much to offer them. Your insight, experiences, and wisdom are a great addition to the world you’re in, even if you aren’t quite sure to do with the tools in your toolbox. Trust that with time, you’ll begin to appreciate yourself further. This journey begins with patience and self-confidence.

Ace of Cups Tarot Card Meanings

Ace of Cups Keywords

UPRIGHT: Love, new relationships, compassion, creativity.

REVERSED: Self-love, intuition, repressed emotions.

Ace of Cups Description

The Ace of Cups shows a chalice overflowing with five streams of water. The cup represents the vessel of your subconscious mind; the five streams are your five senses and the abundant emotion and intuition flowing from within you. The hand holding the cup is sliding out of the clouds, a symbol of your awareness of spiritual energy and influence. Below the hand is a vast sea covered with lotus blossoms, signifying the awakening of the human spirit. A dove descends towards the cup – a symbol of Divine love flowing through the subconscious mind to conscious awareness.

Ace of Cups Upright

With the Ace of Cups, Divine love and compassion are pouring through you. You are a vessel for deep, spiritual love from the Universe, and you can’t help but let that love flow through you and into the world. You receive love, you give love, you ARE love. Your heart overflows.

Now is the perfect time for you to open your heart and experience the rich flow of emotion available to you right now. You are more receptive to creative opportunities, loving connections, and deep compassion for other living beings. As with all Aces in the Tarot, this card comes as an invitation. Will you take it? Will you say “Yes!” to Divine love and compassion, and will you run with it? The Ace of Cups carries the potential for spiritual and emotional fulfillment – but only if you embrace it with an open heart.

This card often appears in Tarot readings when you are open to creative expression, especially when you can allow your emotions to shine through your endeavors. You may be inspired to start a new project, take an art class or even engage in interpretative dance. At this point in your life, you are comfortable with who you are and happily express this part of yourself to others. You see fresh potential in allowing your creative juices to flow. Let your imagination and talent unfurl to new possibilities.

The Ace of Cups often represents a new relationship, be it a friendship, a new family connection or blossoming romance. It is exciting – fluttery even – and you are so glad to have met someone with whom you can share a special connection. Give yourself permission to open yourself to giving and receiving unconditional love, and you will notice that affection flows effortlessly when you are in this loving state of mind. The water in the card reflects the flow of emotion, and thus, the Ace of Cups suggests that the enthusiasm you two generate will get you fired up about yourself and life.

There is a generous, compassionate side to the Ace of Cups, too. See this as a time of giving (not taking) and make the most of any opportunity to help others. You have the power to share your inner radiance and positive energy, bringing great happiness to those around you. And you will find that the more you give, the more you receive on multiple levels.

Finally, the Ace of Cups can signify conception, pregnancy or birth. Look to the other cards in the reading for further confirmation, such as the Empress, Page of Cups or Four of Wands. On a more metaphorical level, it may mean the birth of a new idea or a spark of inspiration – something in which you can invest a great deal of loving and creative energy.

Ace of Cups Reversed

Yes, this is the self-love card of the Tarot deck! In the upright position, the Ace of Cups is about love for all things. In the reversed position, it speaks to love for oneself. So, before you send your love out to the world, send love to yourself, filling up every cell in your body with Divine love and happiness. And the more you do this, the more you can exist in flow with life itself.

The reversed Ace of Cups is a sign that you are in connection with your subconscious mind and attuned to your intuition. You are exploring this part of yourself privately right now, and discovering how you can bring more intuition and flow into your life.

On the flipside, the Ace of Cups reversed may be a sign that you are repressing your emotions, not wanting to express yourself fully to the outside world. You have your reasons for keeping your feelings close and not wanting others to know what’s going on inside. You may feel embarrassed or afraid of what might happen if you were to express your emotions. You may worry that if you allow your feelings to flow, they might turn into an overwhelming flood that can’t be switched off. However, be careful that you do not create an internal blockage by repressing how you feel. If you are not ready to share your emotions – that’s okay! You can find ways to release them privately, through journaling, creative projects, movement, or screaming your frustration and anger out in the car.

In a relationship reading, the reversed Ace of Cups can show that you are withholding your emotions for fear of getting hurt. You know that healthy relationships need trust to grow, but, for the time being, you may need to retreat and find balance with yourself on why you are holding back.

Online Psychic and Mediumship Development Class: Tuesday December 13 (7:30-9:30 pm). Online in Microsoft Teams.

LESSON: How To Read Palms

Look at your palms: How many lines do you see? How fine or deep are they? How knobby is the bone structure? Which way do the fingerprints whorl?

In a palm reading, each of these features is said to signify something specific about your personality (at least according to those who believe in it). Palm reading can tell you what behaviors are likely to show up, when you’re going to have a child or when you’re going to get married or when you’re going to get divorced.”

This class will be every Tuesday online with Microsoft Teams. Each week we will learn something different to enhance both your psychic and mediumship ability. I don’t look at them at gifts, but abilities. Why? Because everyone can do this, you just don’t know that you can. Or you know that you can but don’t know how to strengthen them.

Each class is $15, payable on my Etsy website. Text me at 716 481 2799 to receive the link to the online class on Microsoft Teams.

After you pay for the class, please text me at 716 481 2799 to receive the link for the class. You don’t have to take every class, just the ones you are interested in. This class enhances self awareness to make better decisions, along with increasing your own abilities.

The last full moon of 2022 occurs on December 7th at 11:06 p.m. EST in the sign of Gemini, ending the story that began during the new moon in Gemini on June 10th, 2021.

This is a moment in which we are coming to understand our path in life and subsequently beginning to make plans for the future, as we modify our goals accordingly. The dreams we had last year — or even last month for that matter — are changing and evolving at rampant speed into something different or even bigger than we originally thought. Now is the time to lean into the creative process and journey that’s beginning to unfold around us.

A full moon occurs when the sun and moon juxtapose each other in the sky. At this moment, the earth aligns itself between the sun and moon, allowing the moon’s face to light up from the sun. The moon exudes a bright luminosity that shines down on Earth, lighting up the world with an intense energy that aims to reveal matters for what they truly are. Astrologically, full moons represent emotional endings (most of which are bittersweet), change, and growth. Since the full moon falls at the end of the lunar cycle, it’s the culmination of all the events that have gone down in the past month.

This moon is also heralded as the time in which the temperature drops, the days become shorter and nights become longer. It signifies the near end of the season and we are seeing the shift in front of our eyes as the air crisps and we break out our winter wardrobe. In the northern hemisphere, this so-called ‘Cold Moon’ marks the early days of Yule (which is occurring in two weeks) — so finish knitting your mittens and stock up on hot cocoa to warm up your soul . In the southern hemisphere, this is the onset of summer and the warmer months ahead.

This particular full moon falls in the air sign Gemini. It’s giving us the push we need to express our needs and evaluate our emotions through logic as we progress to a highly spiritual place. The full moon aspects Mars retrograde in Gemini, Saturn in Aquarius, and Neptune in Pisces. On December 6th, the day before the full moon, Mercury (who’s the planetary ruler of the moon) enters Capricorn. This will add structure to the wishy-washiness of Mars retrograde and Neptune through practicality and reason. This will allow us to have patience throughout the process.

With Mars retrograde aligning precisely with the Gemini moon, we will want to make moves and take action towards transforming and developing  our present and future ambitions in an effort to attain our aspirations. However, it will take a while little longer than we expected. Don’t let Neptune’s illusive haze and fog stand in the way of your dreams — use it as a catalyst to insert your visions towards creating the reality you want by activating the Saturnian energy.

On a collective level, overall frustrations are going to hit a high. Arguments are going to happen due to the lack of certainty and understanding about matters. Neptune could bring out false news and information, causing us to feel stuck and unable to make any progress. Or, our insecurities could overtake our heartfelt desires and keep us stuck in the same place.

No matter what happens — it’s important to believe in yourself at all times. Even if you have to fake it until you make it — you shouldn’t give up on your dreams and goals. Don’t let obstacles stand in your way of creating the life you desire.
